The Warriors Theme Song Night Drive..

So one night early morning. In the 1972 Chevrolet Hardtop 2 Door. I was on my way to one of  many events I volunteer at. This time it was the Walk MS benefit in Boca Raton Florida. I was falling asleep and needed some music to pump me up. And well The Warriors Theme always gets me going. This was such an amazing movie when it came out in 1979.

I was 8 years old and wanted to see it so bad but then I got the ” You are too young to understand it” Speech. Well that was until Beta and VHS came out a year or two later heh heh. But I will always remember my cousins 1972 Chevrolet Impala  Hardtop 2 Door .

 

What is The Warriors ? 

The Warriors is a 1979 Film set in New York City. Directed by Walter Hill and based on the Book by Sol Yurick. Cyrus is the leader of the most powerful gang in New York City. The Gramercy Riffs and calls a midnight meeting for all the area gangs. And asked them to send nine unarmed representatives for the meeting. A gang called The Warriors are blamed for killing Cyrus as he gives his speech. They now have to cross the territory of rivals in order to get to their own Turf . The Warriors slowly cross the dangerous Bronx and Manhattan territories, narrowly escaping police and other gangs every step of the way.

 

The Impact ..

As you can imagine that at the time there was no other movie like this. The storyline was not that original other gang movies were out. Or coming out but they way they did it. Not that was something different. The acting was sorta kinda cheesy.

But there were a few exceptions like James Remar and Michael Beck. The fight scenes were actually pretty good and energetic. But the sound track was pretty good as well . The theme song is one of the best I ever heard. And it also features In The City By Joe Walsh of The Eagles Fame .

Great movie – Awesome Soundtrack- It was an Bad Ass Ride that early in the Morning !
