1972 Chevy Impala Commercials

I love Old Car Commercials…

Even Better when they are of my car (insert chuckle here)

I am 48 years old and I remember the mid to late 70s very very very well. Especially the cars. My cousin had almost every Chevy Impala and Caprice from 1965 to 1989 he loves his big Chevy’s. And well he is the reason I love big Chevy’s and just could not wait own one of my own when I got older.

Truth be told I have always loved big cars but I loved to go fast even more, so my first car was a 1967 Camaro SS followed by an 86 IROC an 80 Corvette and a slew of Trans Ams and Formulas I am also a Pontiac guy too. But sadly many of us are not that lucky to have 10 to 15 of our favorite cars all at once and well I am just a working guy sooooo.

But I am now lucky enough to actually own my 1976 Pontiac Trans Am and my 1972 Chevy Impala. I thank the heavens every day for my dream come true. My life has had many twists and turns and I will not bore you with my life story but let’s just say I have given up on owning my dream cars. Until on stroke of luck came and I was able to buy my most beloved cars.

Fun fact I was actually looking for a 1971 Chevy Impala and I had my heart set on this one car. I was on this car lot for months and it was beautiful it really was. While I was waiting for the money I was checking day after day to make sure the car was not sold and as soon as this one check cleared my checking account I gave the car lot a call.

His reply was sorry buddy we just sold it yesterday, I was so heartbroken I really was it was the car I had always wanted since I was kid. And for two weeks I just did not know what to do but continue the search. Until one day I went to craigslist and typed in 1971 Impala Two Door. When the first picture popped up and it was of a 1972 Impala 49,000 orig miles and get this for only 8,500 bucks.

Now after two weeks of utter disappointment of looking at over priced butchered and very non original Impalas from a 1967 Impala 4 speed to a 1971 Big Block car that did not even start and it had electric fans so you know it was possibly butchered. Because those early Impalas never came with electric fans.

I called the guy next day from work I just could not wait for him to answer, I said I will be there with the money in cash. No matter what is wrong with it I will fix it and no worries. So that night after work I hopped in the Trans Am and went to see it and it was way more than I ever imagined and I was in total love with the car.

My 1972 Impala the first day I picked her up
The Day I picked her up
My 1972 Impala the day I picked her up
Started right up like she was just waiting for me

Now it if things had worked out with the 1971 I missed out on with 99,000 miles I would have missed out on what I always wanted and unmolested Time Capsule from 1972 that was 4,000 dollars cheaper so sometimes things happen for a reason.
