All been tucked away in this basement for decades, covered in tractor oil to prevent them from rusting.

As an owner of a ’76 Trans Am and the ’72 Impala featured in this blog, this is an amazing find to ever come across. Sure I am a GM guy but I have always loved Musclecars of all divisions. You just had to respect the fact you can walk into any dealership and order a 12 to 13 second car at a cheap price. I really do not like to adjust the price to reflect inflation over the years because yea many of these cars were expensive for the day.
But the fact that if could go back in time with 4 grand which is a usually a down payment today get a 396 375 Horsepower Camaro slap on cheater slicks and race on cruise night.
What is more amazing is that the owner of these cars featured was smart enough to keep them preserved. The 70 Hemi Cuda alone is a 6 figure car, and the Hemi GTX which is even rarer even back then there were not many GTX’s on the streets let alone a Hemi if you are a car guy then you will know the Street Hemi was a pain in the ass to maintain as a daily driver so not many people were buying them. The hardcore street racers were but again you saw more 440s .
I have to admit 20 years ago I gave away my ’78 Trans Am 4spd to the guy who sold it to me because he needed a car and I had a new ’00 Trans Am WS6 with a promise to give me first dibs if he ever sold it. I always figured hell I’ll find another one right.. Wrong .. It took me 20 years to find another one at a reasonable price that I could afford.
Not to mention how many of the cars like these back in the day were in accidents and totaled. Or many that were just abandoned and exposed to the elements and are just completely rotted and too far gone to restore.
I can remember as a kid always hearing a story of either Ronnie Caruso totaling his new GTO Judge on RT 21 in Newark or Tommy from down the block rolling over his 70 Mach One Mustang. So trust me number one I extremely grateful that I have my two cars today in the condition they are in. And number two the importance of the people who had the insight many years ago to preserve the cars you see in these videos. Where back in the day to many people they were just cars to be discarded after they were not needed anymore.
I wish I had the same insight back in the day …
Founder of the JRX Foundation and host of JRX Reviews. I grew up on big 70s cars my cousin more like an older brother to me had almost every Impala or Caprice from 1965 to 1989. Ever since I could remember getting Tony’s Hot Dogs on Park ave in Newark NJ in his 65 Impala SS. Now I have my big Impala to drive around in and I love every min of it.
